JP Sherry started his legal career at one of the largest independent law firms in Virginia where he became the youngest partner ever among the firm’s then 45+ attorneys. During that time, JP gained all manner of firsthand courtroom experience as lead trial attorney in both state and federal courts throughout DC, MD and VA. His very first jury trial resulted in a verdict of over $600,000 for his client who was defrauded in a Nigerian “4-1-1” scam. The jury even went so far as to ask the judge if they could award the client additional money in court costs and out-of-pocket expenses. Since then, he has tried dozens of cases before judges and juries in the DC Metropolitan area and even argued before the Virginia Supreme Court. He also has handled numerous arbitration hearings before the AAA and JAMS . As a result of his accomplishments, JP was selected by the Virginia Business Journal as among its “Legal Elite” civil litigators.
Born and raised in Edinburg, Virginia, JP is an alumnus of Ampleforth College in North Yorkshire, England and Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut. He graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University with a degree in psychology – one which he puts to good use in his law practice. He received his law degree from The George Washington University where he graduated with honors.
JP’s client base ranges from publicly traded companies to small businesses. Proud of his half-Korean heritage, JP works closely with individuals and businesses in the Korean community to provide them with legal representation of the highest caliber. As a result of his extensive experience inside of the courtroom, clients regularly seek his guidance and expertise on how to stay outside of the courtroom.
